Flowing Water
Research
Hypothesis
A clip-on rural pump monitor can keep wells visible after install, funded by verified operating data buyers, not NGOs or communities.
Why it matters
Roughly half of rural water points are dead at any time. Wells go dark the day drillers leave; donors dig new holes instead of fixing broken ones.
How I thought about it
Charity:water and Virridy proved sensors and data buyers exist, but neither built a neutral retrofit any NGO can use. Wells go dark the day drillers leave, so donors fund new holes instead of repairs. Free to NGO and community; paid for by buyers who need proof that clean water is flowing. Visibility after install is what matters, not another drill day.
